Exciting Progress on Our New Village Hall
- April 23rd 2025
Since the closure of our much-loved Village Hall in 2015 due to safety concerns, the committee has worked hard to preserve the charitable status of the land. This land is designated specifically for use as a village hall, ensuring its long-term protection for the benefit of our community.
We're delighted to share that a recent village-wide poll revealed overwhelming support for the return of a hall — with 85% of the 65 households who responded in favour of a new facility.
Thanks to this strong community backing, we're now making real progress. The National Lottery Community Fund has recently opened up bids for its Reaching Communities England programme, and we are thrilled to confirm that our project is eligible to apply. We are now moving forward with securing planning permission and hope to share a draft footprint of the proposed building with you in the coming months.
As part of this exciting new chapter, we're also in the process of converting the Old Village Hall Registered Charity into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). This is a significant step forward, as it offers better legal protection for our trustees and provides a more modern, flexible structure to support long-term project delivery and funding opportunities.
In the meantime, fundraising continues with energy and enthusiasm! A newly formed Fundraising Support Team, made up of dedicated local residents, is now leading the way with events and activities to help raise the funds we need.
Please continue to support this important and inspiring cause — together, we can bring a new village hall to life for generations to come.
